HEY. DID YOU HEAR WHO WAS JUST DIAGNOSED? DID YOU HEAR WHO’S KID OR GRANDKID IS SICK? I CAN’T BELIEVE IT. HE WAS THE PICTURE OF HEALTH. HOW MAY TIMES DID WE HEAR THIS IN THE PAST FEW MONTHS. HOW MANY PEOPLE DO WE KNOW THAT DIED THIS YEAR FROM THIS DREADED ILLNESS? WE KNOW HOW MUCH IT AFFECTS US AS SOON AS WE HEAR THIS NEWS. CAN WE IMAGINE HOW THIS NEWS HITS THE FAMILIES THAT JUST RECEIVED THIS DIAGNOSIS ABOUT THEIR LOVED ONES?

So I’ve been writing to you and riding for the kids for the last six years so I thought I would take off a year after all, why not take a sabbatical. But sickness doesn’t know from sabbaticals. So sadly, I have to write this letter again for a seventh year in a row. The only thing these kids afflicted with cancer or other lifelong conditions have to look forward to in their otherwise painful life shuttling between doctors, hospitals, therapies, etc., is that letter from Camp Simcha advising them that they have been accepted for the upcoming summer season. It is only a two week session, but those two weeks and its memories carry these kids and families through the year and the break that the parents enjoy during the 2 weeks that their kids are in Camp rejuvenates them as well, so they can carry on for another year.

Some of these kids will never be able to ride a bike due to their conditions, and some kids that were able to ride before the “diagnosis” now only get to watch their bikes accumulate layer upon layer of dust while they long to be like every other kid.

Please help me help the Kids of Camp Simcha as I ride my seventh Bike4Chai ride (with the help of G-d and a strong tailwind hopefully) on August 16th and August 17th.

The ride is a two (2) day ride consisting of 180 miles and approximately 12,500 feet of climbing. Your support will be the incentive to get me up those hills. G-d will help me to get over the hill. Last year, we were able to raise almost $7,000,000.00. This year we hope to have 515 riders and we would love to try to hit the $8,000,000.00 mark. We cannot do this without your help.

Please contribute either by visiting my web page:

https://www.bike4chai.com/moishekofman (CASE SENSITIVE)
OR
by sending a check, made payable to Chai Lifeline, to my home address listed above.

Please note: if your company has a matching gift program, your gift may be doubled or tripled. If you send the paperwork to me with your check, Chai Lifeline will complete the form and send it your employer.

Thank you for supporting me. In the merit of doing so, may Hashem keep you and your family safe and free from illness.

May Hashem help that this year be the last year that Camp Simcha needs to be open.

Best regards

Moishe (Martin) Kofman
