Barry Aranoff

After my first year participating in this event in the summer of 2016, I was overwhelmed with emotion when I rode into Camp Simcha and saw all of the incredible children of Camp Simcha and Chai Lifeline. I thought I was prepared for riding into Camp Simcha for my second year in the summer of 2017. Boy, was I wrong! The emotion was even greater, as I danced and sang with the amazing Camp Simcha children.

On the first day of Chanukah this year, myself and the New Rochelle community, suffered a devastating loss, as my good friend, Rob Finkelstein, A"H, passed away. Rob and I were friends for over thirty years. I competed against him in basketball games in elementary school, high school and camp. We were neighbors at Einstein Medical School, in Riverdale and in New Rochelle, and we were teammates on our local softball and basketball teams. He was a true mensch and I miss him each and every day.

For the third consecutive summer, I will once again bike 180+ miles through New Jersey, the Pocono Mountains, and Upstate NY. This is no ordinary cycling event; it’s an exhilarating ride ending at Camp Simcha, a remarkable overnight camp that provides seriously ill children with a vacation from sickness, restoring their spirits and renewing their determination to fight.

This year, I am riding in honor of all of the incredible Camp Simcha and Chai Lifeline children, and in memory of my dear friend, Rob.

The ride won't be easy; neither is life for a child with cancer or other serious illness. Camp Simcha and its sister camp, Camp Simcha Special, are Chai Lifeline’s flagship programs. Every year these two camps offer 430 children a chance to forget about illness and just be kids again. To learn more about Camp Simcha and Camp Simcha special, visit

I will be biking to camp on Wednesday and Thursday, August 1st and 2nd, 2018. My objective is to raise $18,000 by then, and I hope you will help me reach this goal. All donations are 100% tax-deductible.

Please contribute by clicking on the donate button now.

Thank you for supporting me and, in doing so, helping children and their families cope with the diagnosis, treatment, and aftermath of serious pediatric illness.

Best Regards,
