As most of you know, I’ve been riding and fundraising for Bike4Chai/Chai Lifeline, on and off for a many years..but it didn’t really hit home until I experienced it first hand when my grandson was in CHOP for close to a month after he was born about a year ago

The support system Chai Lifeline provides is unbelievable. They help parents navigate the complexities of dealing with doctors and hospitals, which can be overwhelming — especially for a young couple with a newborn. They also provide sleeping accommodations in their Chai apartments for parents, along with a fully stocked kosher kitchen at the hospital is just a small sampling of what we personally experienced. In addition, Camp Simcha gives sick children — with separate programs for boys and girls — the opportunity to enjoy two unforgettable weeks during the summer, where they can forget about everything they are going through and simply enjoy being kids. And that is only a small glimpse into all that Chai Lifeline offers families in need.In light of this personal experience, I’m looking forward to riding Bike4Chai again this year.

As always I am excited to take part in Bike4Chai, an exhilarating and challenging cycling event benefiting the children and families of Chai Lifeline. Every mile I ride and every dollar I raise will help support critical programs and services for more than 6,000 families impacted by illness, crisis, and loss. These services include counseling and case management, meals delivered to hospitals and homes, transportation to medical appointments, emergency financial assistance, insurance advocacy, i-Shine afterschool programming, Big Brothers/Sisters, crisis and trauma intervention, and Chai Lifeline’s flagship medically-supervised summer programs, Camp Simcha, Camp Simcha Special, and Camp Simcha Without Borders.

My goal is to raise $50,000 for this important cause and I hope I can count on you to help me reach it. All donations are 100% tax-deductible.

Life for a child with a disease , disability, or other serious illness is grueling.
